SPORTS Card Forums (1 Viewing)
Sports cards were among the earliest, and remain one of the most popular, forms of collectibles. They typically consist of a picture of a player on one side, with statistics or other information on the reverse. Cards have been produced featuring most major sports, especially those played in North America. Baseball cards remain the most widely collected form of sports card, although football, basketball, and hockey cards are also widely collected.

Mutoscope cards were 5.25" x 3.25" cards were published during the 1940s by the International Mutoscope Reel Company and other firms. All carry the inscription "A Mutoscope card." They were sold from coin-operated vending machines in places such as amusement parks. Most Mutoscope cards are of "pin-up" material, but some featured other kinds of images such as Jimmy Hatlo cartoons.

Cigarette Tobacco and Tea cards are trade cards issued by tobacco & tea manufacturers to stiffen packaging and advertise brands. Beginning in 1875, cards depicting actresses, baseball players, Indian chiefs, and boxers were issued by the US-based Allen and Ginter tobacco company. In the United Kingdom a number of varieties of loose tea sold in packets from the 1940s to the 1980s contained tea cards. These were illustrated cards roughly the same size as cigarette cards and intended to be collected by children. Perhaps the best known were Typhoo tea and Brooke Bond (manufacturer of PG Tips), who also provided albums for collectors to keep their cards in, the brand named Brooke Bond Dividend D, that is, the card was a dividend against the cost of the tea.

The forums and knowledge base of collectible Gift Cards. These cards have become quite the item over the last 10 years. Gift cards are not just plain, logo-bearing bits of plastic anymore - many offer lights, sound, and action! Some cards have LED's (Light Emitting Diodes) while others have recordable sound chips. Lenticular cards appear to change pictures when they are rocked slightly back and forth. First offered in 1995, gift cards have quickly replaced paper gift certificates at most major retailers. Like many innovations, most people did not foresee their value as collectibles, and many of the early cards are now extremely rare and can command bids of several hundred dollars at online auctions.
